Help / FAQ
RedactCheck is a practical PDF redaction audit tool. It helps detect common mistakes before a document is shared.
Does RedactCheck guarantee a PDF is safe?
No. It is an audit tool, not a legal or forensic guarantee. It helps catch common issues such as extractable text, residual metadata, and suspicious fake-redaction overlays.
What makes a result Unsafe?
Unsafe means the file appears to contain extractable text, strong fake-redaction signals, or both. Treat the document as not safely redacted until the underlying content is removed at source and a fresh PDF is exported.
What should I do if I get Warning?
Warning usually means metadata residue or suspicious structure was found without a definitive leak. Review the original file, clear metadata, verify redaction in the source document, and test again.
Do you keep my file?
The tool is designed for temporary analysis only. You should still avoid uploading highly sensitive documents unless this matches your internal risk policy.
How should I properly redact a PDF?
- Use real redaction tools that remove content, not only black overlays.
- Start from the editable source when possible.
- Clear metadata before export.
- Export a fresh PDF and test selection, copy, and extraction behavior.
- Re-run the final file through RedactCheck.
